GIS Education

At RomoGIS, we believe that education is the cornerstone of empowerment. Our GIS Education program is designed to provide individuals and communities with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology. By offering a range of educational opportunities, from beginner workshops to advanced training courses, we aim to democratize access to geospatial tools and foster a new generation of GIS experts and advocates. We support people from all backgrounds and experience levels, ensuring that our courses accommodate diverse learning styles and needs. Our expertise and hands-on approach enable us to work closely with students, transforming them into skilled advocates, researchers, and difference-makers who can leverage GIS for social change.

Community Mapping in the Bronx

RomoGIS partners with the Angellyh Yambo Foundation to embark on a powerful journey to empower youth and support community development in The Bronx by utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to assist in their mission to reduce gun violence in the Bronx. Working in collaboration with Alexandra Maruri and the leadership team of the Angellyh Yambo Foundation, Frank Romo and the RomoGIS team engineered a series of educational and community-based programs to educate and inform the greater community of gun violence in their neighborhood. The programs were designed to empower the youth in the Bronx and provide a space to share their narrative and insights as we embark on a greater journey to end gun violence.

GIS & Drone Education

RomoGIS partners with Frederick Douglass Academy in the Detroit Public Schools Community District to offer the GIS Pathways Program, a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) track that trains students in the use of GIS, drones, and computer technologies to make a positive impact in their community. Through this program, students gain hands-on experience and practical skills that prepare them for future careers in geospatial technology. We provide student internship opportunities that offer real-world experience, enhancing both personal and professional development. By engaging students in meaningful projects, we help them build a strong foundation in GIS, while also fostering their growth as future leaders and innovators in their communities.
